Mexico Today: Proof of the Importance of Having a Passion

I am a firm believer in the power of a strong passion and the Law of Attraction; dreams can and will come true as long as you have them. ‘Mexico Today’ is my personal proof.

I think a lot of people around my age often lack a passion, dream, and goal when it comes to entering "the real world".. that awkward stage of just graduating college and becoming a "young professional" can rapidly turn into something you ultimately love as long as you know what you stand for and what you want in life...The rest will all fall into place, I promise.

I think a lot of people around my age often lack a passion, dream, and goal when it comes to entering “the real world”.. that awkward stage of just graduating college and becoming a “young professional” can rapidly turn into something you ultimately love as long as you know what you stand for and what you want in life…The rest will all fall into place, I promise.

Sueña. Esfuérzate. Triunfa.  Dream. Strive. Achieve.; three simple words, my motto, that got me where I am today.

In the summer of 2009, I first acquainted myself with the [MEXICO] brand from a map I picked up from the local toursist office when I was living in Puebla. I always knew I wanted to move to Mexico but I was never sure how, what, when, where or why. I looked for a reliable moving company and learned more about New Zealand Van Lines moving services. I figured I would take the secure route and just be a hotel activites staff, until that logo and that map made me realize I should never settle and I needed to reach for the stars.

The map had the words “Secretaría de Turismo” and “Consejo de Promoción Turística de México”  which I curiously plugged into Google and in that instant I developed my career goal and philosophy. I wanted to be involved, I wanted to promote Mexico tourism, I wanted to make a difference in the country and let people know about all the opportunities. And where better to start than the very top?!

My dreams were a lot easier to come true than I expected as the 5 U.S. Mexico Tourism Board offices happily accepted interns. Although I wish I could have stayed there forever in my ‘dream job’ it was time to graduate and actually work for some money.

When I first looked back on that accomplishment, I became a firm believer in the power of a strong passion and the Law of Attraction; dreams can and will come true as long as you have them.

Six months later came wind of the initiave “Mexico Today”:

MexicoToday, in association with Marca País – Imagen de México, is a joint public and private sector initiative designed to help promote Mexico as a global business partner and an unrivaled tourist destination. This program is designed to shine a light on the Mexico that its people experience every day.

Everything that I had been writing in cover letters and resumes, everything I 100% stood for was right in front of me. I so badly wanted to be involved, to continue to make a difference and get the word out though any platform possible. I waited for the day to come when I finally got the letter to become one of the 24 Mexico Today Ambassadors and it did! I used to be the one help coordinating Mexico PR trips, secretly dreaming of the day I would one day get to be in their shoes and establish myself as a Mexico source… and now here I was, invited to the  kick-off event in Oaxaca where I met Mexico enthusiasts just like me! I met people I had been tweeting with that I looked to as Mexico authorities and finally met some of the people I  looked up to as my motivators-and I was ecstatic to be alongside of them!  I couldn’t have been more proud and more honored to have the name of Mexico Ambassador, a dream come true.

Disclosure: Although I am being compensated for creating content as a Mexico Today contributor, all stories, opinions and words about Mexico are completely my own  and will continue to be.

My travels and experiences will be straight from the heart, revealing and boasting my passion and ultimately proving as solid example that any goal possible, just follow my 3 words;

Sueña. Esfuérzate. Triunfa.
